Shoot with pro-level cameras and see how much fun creative editing can be with the Apple® drag and drop video editor, iMovie®. Take home a DVD of your final project to show your family. FILM PRODUCTION WITH FINAL CUT PRO®

Prerequisite: Ability to Work in Teams. Lights, Camera, Action! Learn elements of film production, including pre-production planning, camera work and special effects. Get film crew experience working in small groups to shoot your film with pro-level cameras. Learn the fundamentals of editing with Apple® Final Cut Pro® and Adobe® Photoshop®, then try your hand at special effects with Adobe After Effects®. Take home a DVD of your final project and learn how to showcase it on YouTube.Note: Filmmakers take years to hone their craft. Please have realistic project expectations.

Explore documentary filmmaking from pre-production through post-production in a creative, stimulating setting in the San Francisco Bay Area or on the East Coast. Foster self-expression by building shot lists, experimenting with filming techniques on high-end video cameras, shooting and interviewing on location, and editing with the industry-standard Apple® Final Cut Pro®. Build a foundation for a career in film and take home your documentary on DVD. This is a beginner through intermediate level course.

This course is for students with prior film editing experience.  Develop your own visual effects reel as you delve deep into the best practices of Hollywood post-production houses.  Capture your own footage utilizing pro-level video cameras. Using Final Cut Pro® and Adobe® After Effects®, learn to composite media in 2D and 3D space, create motion graphics with animated text, distort footage and more.  Graduate with your very own visual FX reel—a great complement to your portfolio.
