Game Modding – Half-Life® 2
In this summer camp course, iD “modders” will “upgrade” and redesign award-winning Half-Life® 2. Many video game companies are actively promoting “modding” (modification of) existing video games – a colossal trend sweeping the industry. Taught by instructors who are avid gamers, students will learn to sculpt environments, manipulate lighting, add particle effects, re-skin characters and create new story lines with the celebrated Hammer engine.
As you learn to create and mod levels, you will also gain valuable level-design skills that can be directly leveraged in the growing and lucrative game development industry. Utilizing the power and flexibility of the Valve engine and celebrated Hammer editor, build anything from a map for Counter-Strike® to your very own Half-Life 2 mod from scratch. It’s your world. Mod it. Take home your modding project and a Steam® account with full access to Half-Life 2. Welcome to internalDrive! Do Something Big this summer!

Gaming Activities: Gaming Tournaments, Ultimate Gaming Weekends
General gameplay is a fun aspect of our summer camps, but does not infringe on instructional time. This season will feature Gaming Tournaments and Ultimate Gaming Weekends showcasing the industry’s best. We use NVIDIA® GeForce® gaming cards for peak gaming performance. Students will play BIG titles from Epic Games®, Activision®, THQ®, Microsoft® GameStudios™ and more. In order to offer the most cutting edge experience for our campers, we have adopted the policy of allowing the use of some select games with ESRB ratings of “E” for Everyone, “T” for Teen and “M” for Mature to be used as part of our curriculum in a supervised environment. We take our corporate responsibility and iD family values very seriously, but cannot guarantee that younger students will avoid complete contact with these games. Please know that we make every effort to minimize exposure to any games not appropriate for these age groups.
Note 1: Gaming does NOT infringe on instructional time.
Note 2: Games with ESRB Ratings of E, T and M are used at our camps.

How We Teach
Industry Leading Curriculum & Instruction
Average 6 Students per Staff for Personalized Learning
We maintain an average of just 6 students per instructor. The small ratios ensure personalized instruction and the highest caliber technology summer camp experience. Students at iD are taught only by hand-selected adult staff.
Adult-Only Staff – No Counselors-in-Training
Our entire staff is comprised of adults age 18 and over. iD Tech Camps has respectfully created a no Counselors-in-Training (CIT) policy at our summer technology camps. Students learn best from adults who have mastered their skills in technology. Instruction is delivered by graduate and undergraduate students majoring in the fields of Film, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Education, Media Arts, and other related fields.
Beginner to Advanced
Our ever-evolving curriculum is designed for beginning through advanced learners, allowing students to move along at their own pace with customized lessons for a fun and appropriate challenge. We use award-winning brand-name software.
Weeklong Courses
Students focus on one course topic per week. Our weeklong kids camps and teen camp courses provide students with a firm understanding of their course topic. Many students enroll in multiple weeks of summer camp by exploring many different course topics.
