Gaming Activities: Gaming Tournaments, Ultimate Gaming Weekends
General gameplay is a fun aspect of our summer camps, but does not infringe on instructional time. This season will feature Gaming Tournaments and Ultimate Gaming Weekends showcasing the industry’s best. We use NVIDIA® GeForce® gaming cards for peak gaming performance. Students will play BIG titles from Epic Games®, Activision®, THQ®, Microsoft® GameStudios™ and more. In order to offer the most cutting edge experience for our campers, we have adopted the policy of allowing the use of some select games with ESRB ratings of “E” for Everyone, “T” for Teen and “M” for Mature to be used as part of our curriculum in a supervised environment. We take our corporate responsibility and iD family values very seriously, but cannot guarantee that younger students will avoid complete contact with these games. Please know that we make every effort to minimize exposure to any games not appropriate for these age groups.
Note 1: Gaming does NOT infringe on instructional time.
Note 2: Games with ESRB Ratings of E, T and M are used at our camps.
Attention Teens!
Check out the Teen Scene at our teen camps! You can also find out more about our other courses at iD Tech Camps as well as the iD Gaming Academy, a two-week intensive teen-only game development academy. Want more gaming? Check out our NVIDIA-hosted teen gaming tournaments and Ultimate Gaming Weekends.
Skill Level & Ages
Customized for beginner to advanced learners ages 10-15. Curriculum is delivered in small student clusters and is individually tailored to each student. After learning how to make a game, all students will go home with a completed project at the end of the week. Learn to make your own video games this summer!
What’s New?
New curriculum! We’ve created additional modules based on the very latest versions of Adobe® Photoshop® and Clickteam® Multimedia Fusion 2 Developer®. Whether you are into top-down or side-scroller arcade games, or platformers like classic Mario, this course will give you plenty to sink your teeth into. Students will be introduced to the Vitalize Plug-in allowing them to upload and share their games to the web at our game creation camps.
How We Teach
Industry Leading Curriculum & Instruction
Average 6 Students per Staff for Personalized Learning
We maintain an average of just 6 students per instructor. The small ratios ensure personalized instruction and the highest caliber technology summer camp experience. Students at iD are taught only by hand-selected adult staff.
Adult-Only Staff – No Counselors-in-Training
Our entire staff is comprised of adults age 18 and over. iD Tech Camps has respectfully created a no Counselors-in-Training (CIT) policy at our summer technology camps. Students learn best from adults who have mastered their skills in technology. Instruction is delivered by graduate and undergraduate students majoring in the fields of Film, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Education, Media Arts, and other related fields.
Beginner to Advanced
Our ever-evolving curriculum is designed for beginning through advanced learners, allowing students to move along at their own pace with customized lessons for a fun and appropriate challenge. We use award-winning brand-name software.
Weeklong Courses
Students focus on one course topic per week. Our weeklong kids camps and teen camp courses provide students with a firm understanding of their course topic. Many students enroll in multiple weeks of summer camp by exploring many different course topics.
Our Recommendations
There are no prerequisites for this course. This video game design camp is perfect for aspiring game designers or those who just love gaming. Rather than playing video games for hours, you’ll spend your time exercising your imagination while you make your own 2D game! This 2D development environment will remind you of typical games you’d find in an arcade. The cool software features vast asset libraries and a powerful yet user-friendly drag and drop interface. Our curriculum provides an introduction to programming concepts and real-world math applications. Most importantly, it’s fun!
