Course Description:
Did you know Napoleon Dynamite and the Oscar-winning Cold Mountain were completely edited on Apple® Final Cut Pro®? In this summer film camp, you’ll learn to edit with the same editing software that professionals use. Using the university campus as a backdrop, students will utilize Canon® digital video cameras to quickly capture footage for their digital video camp project. In five action-packed camp days, the students will complete the entire production cycle—planning, shooting and editing an individual video project. Our 2008 curriculum focuses heavily on editing (post production) over storyboarding and filming (pre-production and production). Each student will edit their own project using their own computer, rather than creating just one team project.
Students will then individually log and edit footage with Apple Final Cut Pro (the industry standard). In addition to learning how to mark and trim clips in a timeline, students may add music, filters, transitions, titles and credits. This digital movie summer camp is taught by top level instructors—both student and professional filmmakers. Get ready to find out why making movies is even more fun than watching them!

With our customizable curriculum, this summer film camp is perfect for beginning film students as well as advanced filmmakers. Don’t just watch movies, go behind the scenes. How We Teach
iD Tech Camps students receive the highest caliber technology education any summer camp has to offer! Students in this summer camp for kids and teens will be able to move along faster and more independently, or collaborate utilizing our customized lessons—while still receiving our gold standard 1-on-1 instruction (average 6 students per staff). Using the latest in hardware and software, our all-adult staff works hands-on with each student from project theory to completion (you won’t find counselors-in-training at iD). Repeating this course over several weeks?
Our curriculum in this movie making camp is designed so that students can return for multiple weeks and take their skills to the next level. Our new curriculum is designed for beginning through advanced learners, allowing each student to move along at their own pace with customized lessons for a fun and appropriate challenge. It is not uncommon for students to stretch their skills in this course for 3, 4, and even 5 consecutive weeks. Below is an example of how your student’s skill level may increase if they take this course for multiple weeks.
