2008 iD Film Academy Staff
Our staff consists of top-tier instructors with experience in filmmaking and production. Working professionals and film school students will let students in on industry secrets and help them enter the film festival circuit. In addition to the core instructional team, special guest speakers with professional portfolios may present topics relevant to contemporary filmmaking. Check back again as we highlight some of our key staff profiles.

Jaime Gennaro Program Manager
Jaime graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a B.A. in Film and Television. After graduating in 1998, Jaime worked as a teaching assistant in a film school and as a marketing manager for a media arts organization, promoting independent film screenings and producing an annual International Film Festival. Before joining the iD Film Academy full-time, Jaime ran a small production company doing commercial video work. Her most recent project was the completion of a commissioned full-length screenplay adaptation of a WW II novel.

Kim Simard iDFA Director
Kim Simard had her start at iD in the summer of 2007 as the Digital Video Editing instructor at Wake Forest College. This year iD summoned her to help develop the new iD Film Academy program and to revamp the curriculum for iD Tech Camps’ Special Effects course. Hailing from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Kim Simard is at once a teacher, artist, photographer and filmmaker. With an MFA in film production from Concordia University Kim has worked as a Media Director for a non-profit media organization, she co-directed a documentary about Aids Community Care Montreal and is currently a Professor in the Cinema/Communications department at Dawson College. Many of her short animations, films and videos have been screened internationally and her art work exhibited in various Montréal galleries.

Zak Margolis Lead Instructor
Zak Margolis is a media artist and animator living in Portland, OR. Zak earned his B.A. in Film/Video and Animation from Evergreen College and his M.A. from RIT in Computer Animation. He's created music videos for Unwound, Old Time Relijun, and Okkervil River. He also produced a short piece of animation for the film Scaredycat which screened at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. Zak just completed an HD project with animator Jim Blashfield and is currently working on his epic horror soap opera, Moonbabies.

Lana Palmer Instructor
Lana is a media artist from Canada. She graduated with degrees in Media Production and Film Studies from the University of Regina. Lana has worked in the film industry as a camera assistant on various projects including: Watchmen, starring Billy Crudup; the mini-series Surveillance, starring Bill Pullman and the television series Psych. She is currently working at the Banff New Media Institute on a mobile technology project.

Ryan Jeffery Instructor
Currently living in Brooklyn, NY; Ryan Jeffery has been creating short film work for the past eight years ranging from music videos to video installations. His films have screened in North America, Europe and Japan. Ryan's editorial work can be seen on Thom Yorke's music promo "Harrowdown Hill" and the filmic allegory about global warming "Wind" sponsored by Al Gore.
