iD Tech Camps invites you to join us for our 10th season at our University of Denver location in Denver, CO. iD Tech Camps is North America’s #1 summer computer camp. Our summer kids camps and teen camps are designed for beginner to advanced learners. Our popular University of Denver summer day camps and overnight camps average 6 students per instructor for customized instruction delivered by highly trained adult-only staff. University of Denver’s campus has a mixture of historic and modern buildings. With fountains and a meandering stream, the University of Denver Harper Humanities Gardens offer a lush oasis in the heart of this 124-acre, tree-shaded campus. Founded in 1864, the University of Denver is the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountains. Located in a dynamic, cosmopolitan city close to pristine mountain wilderness, the university is distinguished by its creative combination of liberal arts and professional programs, selectively focused graduate studies, and associated schools and centers.
Getting to Campus: Our specific location on campus at this Colorado summer camp, along with maps and driving directions, will be found in your Camp Account after you register. University of Denver is located just 8 miles south of downtown Denver, 15 miles to the mountains and only 45 minutes from Denver International Airport, making it the perfect Day Camp and Overnight Camp location. Schools & Colleges at DU: The University of Denver offers a variety of academic areas of study for both undergraduates and graduates through the Daniels College of Business, Sturm College of Law, Morgridge College of Education, Graduate School of Professional Psychology, Josef Korbel School of International Studies, Graduate School of Social Work, Lamont School of Music, School of Engineering and Computer Science, The Women’s College, and University College.
Student Population: As of 2008, the University of Denver had 10,953 students; 4,913 of which were undergraduates. The University sees a good mix of both in-state and out-of-state students, with 60 percent of the student body coming from outside the state of Colorado. In 2008 the average accepted high school student had high marks, with a 3.7 GPA and a combined SAT score of 1220.
Rankings: Among all “National Universities”, both public and private, U.S. News & World Report ranked the University of Denver 84th (48th among private universities). The Daniels College of Business was ranked 67th in 2008 by BusinessWeek among undergraduate business programs and the Sturm College of Law is currently ranked the 77th best Graduate Law School by U.S News. Aside from academics, DU was recently ranked in the top-25 fittest colleges in the nation by Men’s Fitness magazine. This is no accident as the University actively promotes a healthy lifestyle for its students. DU’s fitness building, the Coors Fitness Center houses top-of-the-line equipment, and offers fitness classes, nutritionists and personal trainers. DU is also located near an abundance of the city’s best recreational and outdoor activities.
Athletics: DU’s Pioneers have been competing in intercollegiate sports since 1867. The University participates in NCAA’s Division I and has become a winter sports powerhouse, with its flagship sport being ice hockey. For years, fans have packed the 6,000 seat Magness Arena on campus and have witnessed 7 NCAA titles including back to back championships in 2004 and 2005. Another winter sport, skiing, is very strong at DU and has grabbed 20 NCAA titles (more than any other school). Other strong sports include golf and tennis, as well as the women’s gymnastics team and the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams.
Distinguished Alumni & Personnel: There are several DU graduates who have gone on to do great things in the areas of politics, business and entertainment. Camp Activities for Kids & Teens
Age appropriate fun for kids 7-12 and teens 13-17. Students will receive an average of 5-6 hours of technical instruction per day mixed with breaks, lunch, and fun camp activities we like to call TechReation. Participation in activities is encouraged, but optional. Physical activities at these Colorado summer camps may include ultimate frisbee, capture-the-flag, fun teambuilding games, soccer, etc., and other camp activities like Guitar Hero®, video gaming tournaments, social time and more. Each week wraps up with family showcase at 2:00 PM on Friday. Check out the cool projects created by students, meet the instructor, and attend our diploma ceremony.
Attention Colorado Teens! Our summer camps in Colorado at University of Denver just got even cooler for our teen students. We have specialized teen activities including free time to hang out, movie nights, extra project time, and as always, plenty of gaming. Stay the Weekend at iD this Summer!
Weekend Stays and Ultimate Gaming Weekends are offered at many iD locations.
Weekend Stays / Ultimate Gaming Weekends are great options for students looking to bridge the gap between two weeks of camp or for students who want to stay and game with us the weekend following their camp week.
Overnight students ages 12-17 at iD Tech Camps, as well as those registered for our Teen Academies (ages 13-18), can bridge the weekend between consecutive overnight camp weeks. As an exception, overnight students ages 10-17 at Stanford University may also participate. The cost is $349 per weekend and is all-inclusive (housing, meals, supervision, gaming, activities, etc). This offering only applies to overnight students and is not stand-alone.
Not a serious gamer? We’ve got you covered. You can take it easy in the labs, play retro games, read a book, play outdoor sports, or just keep a low profile.
