About Towson University
iD Tech Camps is excited to be hosting our academic camps for teens and kids at Towson University. Located in suburban Towson, eight miles north of Baltimore, the beautifully landscaped, 328-acre setting offers a pleasant environment for our summer computer camps and a diverse campus life, as well as easy access to a wealth of university and community resources. Towson University is the second-largest public university in Maryland and is the perfect Day Camp and Overnight Camp location.
Getting to Campus: Our specific location on campus at this Maryland summer camp, along with maps and driving directions, will be found in your Camp Account after you register. Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), located about 45 minutes south of Towson, handles air traffic from all major carriers. Train service is available via Amtrak in and out of Baltimore’s Penn Station, 20 minutes south of campus.Towson University runs its own on-campus shuttle system, operating free of charge students’ convenience. This on-campus shuttle travels to most school destinations, while the off-campus shuttle travels to more remote parts of the University, including housing complexes on the outskirts of campus. Also, an additional shuttle makes continuous trips to Penn Station every day. There is also direct access to MTA Maryland buses with services connecting to the light rail.

Colleges at Towson University: Towson educates undergraduate and graduate students in 30 academic departments across its campus. These departments are subdivided into eight different colleges and include: College of Business and Economics, College of Fine Arts and Communication, College of Education, College of Liberal Arts, Jess and Mildred Fisher College of Science and Mathematics, College of Health Professions, Honors College, and the College of Graduate Studies and Research.
Student Population: Over 20,000 full and part-time students are enrolled at Towson, with more than 15,000 being undergraduate students. Of the total 20,000, 800 are international students who represent 100 different nations. It is definitely the place to go for business in Maryland, as in 2006, Towson enrolled more students in its business school than any other college in the state.
Rankings: The Maryland State Department of Education and the Middle States Commission on Higher Education have both accredited Towson University. In 2007, Towson had a 69% acceptance rate, and had a yield rate of 29%. The average GPA of entering students was a 3.45.
Athletics: The Towson Tigers (who were formerly known as the Towson College Knights) are part of the Colonial Athletic Association and currently make up 18 Division I athletic teams (11 in women’s sports, 7 in men’s sports). Their dance team is nationally recognized as one of the best in the country, with 11 national championships under their belt. Towson’s men’s lacrosse team is also an athletic powerhouse, appearing regularly in the NCAA tournament. In addition to Division I sports, Towson also has active club sports and intramural sports.

Camp Activities for Kids & Teens
Age appropriate fun for kids 7-12 and teens 13-17. Students will receive an average of 5-6 hours of technical instruction per day mixed with breaks, lunch, and fun camp activities we like to call TechReation. Participation in activities is encouraged, but optional. Physical activities may include ultimate Frisbee, capture-the-flag, fun teambuilding games, soccer, etc., and other camp activities like Guitar Hero®, video gaming tournaments, social time and more. Each week wraps up with family showcase at 2:00 PM on Friday. Check out the cool projects created by students, meet the instructor, and attend our diploma ceremony.
Attention Maryland Teens! Our summer camps in Maryland at Towson University just got even cooler for our teen students. We have specialized teen activities including free time to hang out, movie nights, extra project time, and as always, plenty of gaming. Stay the Weekend at iD this Summer!
Weekend Stays and Ultimate Gaming Weekends are offered at many iD locations.
Weekend Stays / Ultimate Gaming Weekends are great options for students looking to bridge the gap between two weeks of camp or for students who want to stay and game with us the weekend following their camp week.
Overnight students ages 12-17 at iD Tech Camps, as well as those registered for our Teen Academies (ages 13-18), can bridge the weekend between consecutive overnight camp weeks. As an exception, overnight students ages 10-17 at Stanford University may also participate. The cost is $349 per weekend and is all-inclusive (housing, meals, supervision, gaming, activities, etc). This offering only applies to overnight students and is not stand-alone.
