About Our Las Vegas Summer Camp Courses

Ignite your internalDrive and do something BIG this summer! iD Tech Camps is a family company – and our company is a unique place. Some call it magical. We’re the World’s #1 Tech Camp – consistently ranked a Top Workplace. One of our big secrets? Ridiculously small ratios. Small ratios mean personalized instruction – just 8 students per instructor or fewer, guaranteed! Our adult-only staff are tech-savvy undergraduates, graduate students and professionals, passionate about teaching game design, film, computer science and more.

This is our 2nd season hosting Las Vegas summer camps at UNLV. We strike the right balance between off-computer activities (creative games, sports, life skills, etc.) and essential technology education to foster STEM skill development (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Our popular UNLV summer day camps are located in Paradise, Nevada, a suburb of Las Vegas.

We offer a variety of cutting-edge summer camp courses for beginner through advanced learners. Kids and teens learn one course topic per week, specializing in video game design, iPhone® app development, programming, video editing and more – using the best brand name products from Adobe®, Apple®, Autodesk®, Google, Microsoft® and beyond. Come explore the college campus and gain skills that will last long after summer this Las Vegas summer camp ends. Continue to Step 2 for Course Availability, Tuition & Dates.

About UNLV Summer Camps

NOTE: Looking for our exact location on campus? You must first be enrolled; you can then access that information through My Account. Not yet enrolled? Go to Step 2 to enroll in our Las Vegas summer camps. The maps included here are for general information only.

Many students use their summer camp experience with iD Tech Camps to explore colleges that they’re interested in attending in the future. Learn on the UNLV campus, eat in the dining halls and ages 10+ can even stay overnight (at most campuses).

iD Tech Camps has chosen the UNLV campus to host our summer kids’ computer camps, academic camps and teen camps in the Las Vegas area because of its central location and rich tradition of academic research. UNLV has aggressively expanded both its student facilities and its research activities, as well as championing sustainability efforts. It is conveniently located near McCarran International Airport, close to both camps and the Las Vegas Strip.

UNLV

Located in the most populous city in Nevada, Las Vegas, UNLV covers 332 acres of land and boasts approximately 28,000 students. It is also home to the prestigious Information Science Research Institute (ISRI), a research and development unity with the mission of fostering the improvement of automated technologies. The urban setting of the campus makes it perfect for students who want a summer technology program in Nevada.

8:1 Staff Ratio Guarantee

iD Guarantee - Small Class Sizes

We guarantee ridiculously small class sizes, with a maximum of 8 students per instructor. Why? Because our teaching philosophy is premised on personalization - your path, at your pace. iD's passionate, adult-only instructors guide students through customized curriculum with 1-on-1 teaching. The immersive environment (typically 5, 6, 7 or 8 students - but never more than 8 per instructor) is ideal for fostering creativity. Read more about the 8:1 iD Guarantee.

Adult-Only Instructors

iD Tech Camps recruits energetic, adult-only instructors to teach our technology courses and supervise our students. Our summer staff is passionate about technology. We do not cut corners by employing Counselors-in-Training. We recruit from top colleges and universities to find staff with great credentials in game development, filmmaking, web design, programming, photography, etc.

Personalized Instruction

Most courses are beginner through advanced. Our innovative curriculum is premised on a blended learning strategy. Students receive blended (or hybrid) instruction through use of the brand new iD Game Plan engine along with live 1-on-1 instruction from our team of educators. Our approach allows students to move along at an appropriate, customized pace.

Project-Based Curriculum

We encourage a hands-on, experiential approach to technology; students learn by doing. Each student is provided with a computer and works with the same products that professionals use in their fields. Students complete a project showing off their new technology skills. By focusing on practical skill development of STEM topics (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) iD prepares students to take their new tech knowledge back into the real world.

Sample Staff

This is our second year of Las Vegas summer camps held at UNLV, but meet some of our veteran instructors from other locations.

  • “Mrs. Wigglesworth”: Mrs. Wigglesworth has been with iD Tech Camps for over 6 summers, with camp experience at the Sacred Heart University, Wake Forest University and UNC-Chapel Hill locations.  During the academic year, she teaches 8th grade Language Arts and loves all forms of education.
  • “Specs”: Specs is a graduate of the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, AZ, where he majored in Game Design and Digital Animation.  He has worked for THQ, Inc. doing motion capture animation and has worked on such shows as ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and “Age of Conan.”  Specs loves games and hopes to impart some of that passion to his students.
  • “Codex”: Codex is finishing up her studies in Information Systems Management at Slippery Rock University. She enjoys gaming (particularly RPGs), and she has experience both in robotics and programming with C++ and Java.  She loves working with children and can’t wait to share her knowledge!
  • “Maverick”: Maverick has been a gamer since the tender age of 5.  He turned his passion into a career by helping to manage a popular gaming cafe in Squirrel Hill for several years, and hopes to apply those skills to his instruction at camp. In addition to video games, Maverick enjoys writing game reviews and learning more about video game design and development.
  • “Starman”: During the academic year, Starman is a doctoral student at Fordham University, completing his PhD in School and Child Psychology. He’s worked in a variety of private and public schools throughout NYC, working with teachers to problem-solve classroom management issues, and lending an open and caring ear to students in need. Originally from the suburbs of New York, Starman loves cooking, anything sci-fi, and David Bowie. He’s super “psyched”–get it?!–to bring out the best in students and have tons of fun at camp!

Testimonials From iD Tech Camps

What Parents Are Saying

The instructors are just amazing – so motivating with pleasant intensity. My son came home from camp and worked and created at his computer until he went to bed. Throughout, a full success. THANK YOU. Heike H., parent, Stanford University

My son was barely through the first day before he remarked that he would love to return. I found everyone to be genuinely friendly. I was pleased with every portion of the program from the safety passwords, to the curbside pick up. I actually think flawless best describes this camp. Michael W., parent, Harvard University

I’m very impressed with the depth and quality of instruction. This isn’t dabbling at computer programming. This is the real thing. Our son was excited about what he learned – and put in a lot of effort to make the most of his week here. Thanks for a great experience. George A., parent, Stanford University

We appreciate getting to meet the instructor and seeing and playing the game my son created. The diploma ceremony was very positive, giving individual and personalized, positive comments about each student showed how much the instructors came to know and appreciate each of the kids. Norah M., parent, Columbia University

What a great camp experience. This was our first tech camp and I have to say, the program offered a balanced camp experience tailored to my son’s interests. He came away having gained the programming knowledge he was looking for, while also being able to spend time out of the lab being active. Thank you. Robin A., parent, Princeton University

What Campers Are Saying

I had the greatest instructor in the world. I really enjoyed making games in this class – it was fun having my instructor struggle to win my games! He always answered my questions promptly. Anh P., student, Stanford University

iD Tech Camps has done so much for me in one single week…it has made me more independent, given me knowledge of programming, and made me the best programmer I could be. Thank you so much iD Tech Camps. Tanya M., student, Princeton University

The camp was great…All of the classes can prepare you for jobs in different fields such as video games, software development and entertainment. It’s also a bunch of fun. Madison R., student, Harvard University

This week of camp was the best week of my life!! I had the best instructors ever who taught me so much that will definitely be useful later in life. I had a great time, and a TON of fun. I will definitely return next year. Natalie K., student, Stanford University

It takes skills to make anyone want to do something for 7 hours straight. iD Tech Camps did this to me with programming. Ryan L., student, Columbia University
