About Southern Methodist University

Our academic camps at SMU entail a small, caring academic community in the heart of a vibrant international Sun Belt City. Consistently ranked in the top third of national universities in the guide America’s Best Colleges, SMU enrolls more than 10,000 students from all 50 states and 100 foreign countries. Located just five miles north of downtown Dallas, the wooded SMU campus stretches over 165 acres.

Dallas has supported SMU since its beginning, when local citizens pledged $300,000 to secure the University. SMU’s Meadows Museum houses one of the finest collections of Spanish art outside of Spain, including works by such masters as Goya, Picasso, and Miró. SMU is located approximately 3 miles from the Dallas Love Field Airport, and 19 miles from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. SMU is the perfect option amongst our multiple summer camps in Texas.

About Our Courses

We teach the coolest courses including video game design, Flash animation, programming, video editing, and more–using the best brand name products from Adobe^®, Apple^®, Autodesk^®, Canon^®, Microsoft^® and beyond. Come explore the college campus and gain technical skills that will last long after summer camp ends. Do something big.

Our students receive the highest caliber technology education any technology summer camp has to offer! Our method of project-based learning highlights our 1-on-1 instruction, and above all, is loads of fun. Students learn at their own pace in small groups of an average of 6 students per instructor (compared to 30 students in an average classroom). Students at iD are taught only by hand-selected adult staff.

Camp Activities for Kids & Teens

Age appropriate fun for kids 7-12 and teens 13-17. Students will receive an average of 5-6 hours of technical instruction per day mixed with breaks, lunch, and fun camp activities we like to call TechReation. Participation in activities is encouraged, but optional. Physical activities may include ultimate Frisbee, capture-the-flag, fun teambuilding games, soccer, etc., and other camp activities like Guitar Hero III^TM, video gaming tournaments, social time and more. Each week wraps up with family showcase at 2:00 PM on Friday. Check out the cool projects created by students, meet the instructor, and attend our diploma ceremony.

Attention Texas Teens! Our summer camps in Texas at Southern Methodist University just got even cooler for our teen students. We have specialized teen activities including free time to hang out, movie nights, extra project time, and as always, plenty of gaming.
