As a private Roman Catholic university, St. Edward’s is located just south of Lady Bird Lake in Austin, Texas. Founded: 1878
Schools and Colleges at St. Edward’s University: St. Edward’s University offers five different degrees in over 50 areas of study through the schools of Behavioral and Social Sciences, Education, Humanities, Management and Business, and Natural Sciences.
Student Population: There are 5,300 undergraduate students who attend St. Edward’s, representing 37 US states and 38 countries. There are also about 1,000 postgraduates who attend St. Edward’s.
Academic Programs: Since 2004, St. Edward’s University has been named “best college” in the western region by U.s. News & World Report (in the category of master’s-granting institutions). The university is also recognized for their Theater Arts program, which features a contract with the Actors’ Equity Association. This exclusive agreement (St. Edward’s is one of the only undergraduate programs in the nation with such an affiliation) allows for students who successfully complete the coursework and requirements to be eligible to join the association.
Athletics: As a founding member of the Heartland Conference, the St. Edward’s Hilltoppers compete at the NCAA Division II level, with teams in men’s and women’s baseball/softball, basketball, golf, soccer and tennis. The university also fields a women’s Division II volleyball team. University club teams include men’s lacrosse (formed in 1999) and women’s lacrosse (formed in 2008) teams. Out of 278 Division II institutions, St. Edward’s ranks 13th in terms of student-athlete graduation rate. The campus at St. Edwards was used by the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys for pre-season training from 1990 to 1997.
Distinguished Alumni & Personnel: Notable St. Edward’s alumni include the former President of Bolivia Jorge Quiroga, former Houston Astros Shortstop and Gold Glover Roger Metzger, former Vice President of Finance for Nintendo John H. Bauer, and daughter of President Lyndon Johnson Luci Banes Johnson.
Camp Activities for Kids & Teens
Age appropriate fun for kids 7-12 and teens 13-17. Students will receive an average of 5-6 hours of technical instruction per day mixed with breaks, lunch, and fun camp activities we like to call TechReation. Participation in activities is encouraged, but optional. Physical activities may include ultimate Frisbee, capture-the-flag, fun teambuilding games, soccer, etc., and other camp activities like Guitar Hero®, video gaming tournaments, social time and more. Each week wraps up with family showcase at 2:00 PM on Friday. Check out the cool projects created by students, meet the instructor, and attend our diploma ceremony.
Attention Texas Teens! Our summer camps in Texas at St. Edward’s University just got even cooler for our teen students. We have specialized teen activities including free time to hang out, movie nights, extra project time, and as always, plenty of gaming. Weekend Stays and Ultimate Gaming Weekends are offered at many iD locations.
Weekend Stays / Ultimate Gaming Weekends are great options for students looking to bridge the gap between two weeks of camp or for students who want to stay and game with us the weekend following their camp week.
Overnight students ages 12-17 at iD Tech Camps, as well as those registered for our Teen Academies (ages 13-18), can bridge the weekend between consecutive overnight camp weeks. As an exception, overnight students ages 10-17 at Stanford University may also participate. The cost is $349 per weekend and is all-inclusive (housing, meals, supervision, gaming, activities, etc). This offering only applies to overnight students and is not stand-alone.
