By now, we hope you have a good idea of what we're about. In a word: Quality. In two words: Quality and People. We’re celebrating our 10th season. A lot has changed over the past summer camp seasons—and a lot has remained the same. Hopefully you've browsed our website (maybe even visited my blog) and have a sense for the quality we stand for: An average of 6 students per staff, a No CIT policy, the right balance of fun activities, technology learning through amazing tech courses, friendship and an ever-evolving commitment to risk management.
Our family has been re-inventing iD Tech Camps every year since 1999. We operate our summer technology programs at 50 locations coast to coast, and, in addition to iD Tech Camps, have launched cool new tech offerings including the iD Gaming Academy for teens, the iD Film Academy for teens, a Documentary Filmmaking Study Abroad Program for teens in Spain, hybrid programs like Surf & Tech and Sports & Tech, and a new service called iD On Site. We're still just as deeply involved in the company as we were during those crazy startup days of ‘99. With each season, we get a little wiser. Back in 1999 we thought we would launch a pretty incredible technology camp. But today, we no longer define ourselves as a technology company or computer camp. Instead, we define ourselves simply as a people company.
This idea might sound a little over the top, but the concept is simple: If we treat our people better, if we respect them, if we pay the highest compensation in the industry, if we focus on simplifying their lives while simultaneously increasing expectations of them, if we challenge them, if we listen to them and give them the tools they need to succeed, if we give them a career path and a reason to return…then good things happen. Great camps happen. Happy campers happen. Happy parents happen. And you tell a friend. And this is the greatest compliment you could ever give us.
It's no secret that our staff return rate is atypical. It's no secret that our camper return rate is atypical. Why? We're a people company—and we know it.
As we kick off the summer 2008 season, we hope you'll share in our enthusiasm. We're launching several new courses. All courses have brand new curriculum. We have new camp activities. We also have a handful of short “sneak-peek” camp videos that you can view right from this site. If you are already on our mailing list, our catalog will be automatically mailed to you in February.
