9-Year-Old Mentor Inspires Her Peers
Summer Tech Program at Northwestern University
Inspires Young Girl To Excel

A multilingual 9-year-old, devout Muslim, Karate blue belt with an award-winning short video to add to her credits, Eeman Ouyoun is a mentor for other girls at her school as she imparts the technology skills she learned at iD Tech Camps.
At first, Eeman's parents were a little hesitant to send their young daughter to a technology camp. Once a shy 9-year-old, reluctant to participate in school, Eeman's self esteem blossomed after participating in iD Tech Camps at Northwestern University. After Eeman completed the Video Game Creation course, her parents were so impressed they signed her up for three more weeks and three additional programs—Digital Video Editing, RoboContenders, and Web Design & Flash® Animation.
"Besides having a fun summer, enrolling Eeman at iD Tech Camps was a worthy investment for her future," stated Eeman's mother Rayda Edding. "As a result of attending iD Tech Camps, she is highly motivated to excel and now is a leader in her school."
While studying Digital Video Editing at iD Tech Camps, Eeman and three campmates implemented the latest technology from Apple® Final Cut Pro® and Canon® digital cameras to write, shoot, and edit a short video called, "Flying Fists of Fury." They were nothing short of stars in this parody of traditional Kung Fu movies. “Flying Fists of Fury” received the Best Action Award in iD Tech Camp's National Digital Video Contest.
A 4th grader at Edison School in Illinois, Eeman is a confident mentor for other students while incorporating digital video into book reports and other school projects. Eeman is leading a group of peers in working on a NASA digital video project on the Odyssey and investigative reporting. When not involved with high tech projects, Eeman is busy as an accomplished figure skater, soccer player, blue belt in Karate, and a student of five languages. Eeman has become an inspiration, encouraging other students to do their best.
