Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Where is the program held?

Our Teen Programming Camp is held at Stanford University and MIT, two of the most respected universities in the world engaged in artificial intelligence, robotics, foundations of computer science, scientific computing, and systems.

What are the age requirements?

This is a teen program for students ages 13-18.  Students at MIT must, however, be in High School.

How long is the program?

The program is two weeks in length. Weekend stays are optional (but recommended) for $349 per weekend. Weekend activities include field trips, free time, recreational activities and extra lab time, which are all fully supervised by our staff. Weekends do not include instructional time.

How much does the program cost?

Tuition for the iD Programming Academy is US $3,299 and includes all fees and taxes. This price includes on-campus housing (shared room), meals, instruction and activities. Optional weekend stays is an additional $349 per weekend.

Continuing Education Units are available.  Certain age restrictions apply.  You can purchase the CEUs after you register through your Camp Account or by phoning our main office.

Who are the staff?

Please see our staff page for descriptions.

How many students will be in the program?

There is limited capacity in this teen programming camp and registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What safety measures are taken for students?

Risk Management is our number one priority—adult staff supervises ALL classes, activities, dining and boarding. Every staff member who comes into contact with students at camp is required to undergo thorough background checks. We run not only criminal background checks, but also sexual offender background checks, identification checks and multiple reference checks. The iD Programming Academy has a Director AND Staff that are CPR/First-Aid Certified.

Where will we stay?

iD Programming Academy students will stay right in the dorms on campus at Stanford University and MIT. The Academy will have both male and female instructors that stay in separate rooms on the same floor as students, generally near fire exits and stairwells. If you are attending the academy with a friend and want them as a roommate, please indicate this during the registration process. Our staff will do our best accommodate all requests.

What are the educational requirements for the Academy?

The curriculum in this program can be rigorous. We highly suggest students are familiar with basic programming concepts, or have taken a minimum of one week of iD Tech Camps Programming in C++ or Java course prior to enrolling in the Academy. We cater the instruction to each individual student’s needs and deliver one-on-one instruction. In order to maximize the potential of this program, we recommend that all students have a strong desire to learn about application programming or an interest in pursuing a career in Computer Science.

What will I learn?

In this intense teen programming course, you will get deep insight into professional software design and application development. The Programming Academy offers intensive, assignment-driven programming workshops in three course topics: iPhone® App Development, Facebook® App Development and C++ Programming & Rocket Science. All graduates leave the Academy with a programming portfolio and the tools to excel in the rapidly expanding field of computer programming. Students will also tour a big-name studio and see how the pros work.

What will I take home?

You’ll leave the academy with a programming portfolio.  You own the code!  Please see a specific course for more details.

What is a typical day like?
