Excursions In Spain
Students will be residing in the beautiful beachside town of Cádiz, Spain. Besides exploring Cádiz, students will also be taking some great excursions to Sevilla and Puerto de Santa Maria. Living and learning the Spanish culture outside of Spanish and Filmmaking classes in this teen study abroad program is one of its key selling points.
The cultural activities provide students with a vision of Spanish culture and society in the most complete and integrated form possible. Excursions and cultural activities will comprise activities such as tours of historical and cultural interest, visits to typical "fiestas" and other regional fairs, concerts, nights of flamenco, a bullfight and informal gatherings among friends.
We will be taking a day trip to Sevilla, one of the most beautiful of all Spanish cities.

Excerpt from "Let’s Go" about Sevilla:
Sevilla is arguably the most charming and romantic of Spain's great cities. Narrow, tangled streets unfold from the
center leading to an awe-inspiring cathedral, the third largest in the world. Tourists and locals stroll among the
horse-drawn carriages and chat over tapas in numerous outdoor cafes, while musicians perform in the many plazas.
Contemporary Sevilla is the product of an ancient and impressive history. Once the site of a Roman acropolis founded
by Julius Caesar, it later became the focal point of the Spanish Renaissance. Sevilla is now the guardian of
traditional Andalucían culture; flamenco, tapas, and bullfighting are at their best here, and the city's many
historical sites are stunning.

Places of interest in Sevilla:
- Plaza de España
- El Alcazar
- Barrio Santa Cruz
- La Catedral
- La Giralda
Along with Sevilla, we will take a trip to visit Puerto de Santa María, a neighboring town to Cádiz. There, we
will attend an authentic Spanish Bullfight, or Corrida de Toros. Spain has always been famous for its bullfights.
Its origins date back to 711AD when the first bullfight took place in honor of the crowning of King Alfons VIII. We
are fortunate that this cultural event occurs during our stay in Spain.
