Do Something Big!
Meet Ross & Scott, 9-year-old twins who used their iD Tech Camps skills to develop a website for a local client. And they got paid!
Ross and Scott Padalino are 9-year-old twin brothers from Pennsylvania. After learning how to make their own website using Adobe® Dreamweaver® at iD Tech Camps, the brothers wanted to return for another session, this time in 3D Game Design. The only problem was they needed to come up with enough money on their own to attend another summer! Applying their website design skills, the brothers Padalino built a website for a neighborhood business and received more than enough money to fund their way back for another summer fun technology experience! Enjoy their interview.
iD: How many seasons have you attended iD Tech Camps?
R&S: We’ve attended only one season.
iD: What course(s) have you enrolled in over the years?
R&S: The Game & Web Design Hybrid!
iD: What do you do for fun when you aren’t at our computer camp?
R&S: We both love to play soccer, hang out with friends and make our own games on the computer.
iD: What are your favorite things about our summer camp?
Ross: I like learning how to make my own games and meeting new people.
Scott: You have so many different courses! Plus, your camp counselors are a lot of fun.
iD: Does coming to iD help you improve in other aspects of your life besides technology?
Ross: Yes, now I have more confidence.
Scott: Same for me. I now believe more in myself because I found I can do some really great things.
iD: Is iD a good place to make friends? Why?
Ross: Of course. When you have free time you get to talk and play with other kids.
Scott: Yes, because I could talk to other kids who like the same things I like!
iD: What are your future goals?
Ross: Making websites and making movies.
Scott: I’d like to become a scientist and an inventor.
iD: How has iD impacted these goals?
Ross: iD has helped by teaching me how to make websites!
Scott: Learning how to invent new things on the computer will help me create things later.
iD: What’s your favorite tech gadget?
Ross: Xbox360®.
Scott: Computer. I play on that more than anything.
iD: What’s your favorite video game?
Ross: Kingdom Heart’s 358/2 days.
Scott: I like Sonic the Hedgehog games!
iD: Will you be coming back to iD?
R&S: Yes!
iD: Any advice for future iD Tech campers?
R&S: Expect to have fun!
iD: Anything else you’d like to add?
R&S: After our first course at iD, we really wanted to take the 3D Game Design course, but our parents told us we would have to earn the money on our own to pay the way. Last summer we learned that a company in our hometown needed a website. At iD Tech Camps we had just learned how to make websites using Dreamweaver, so we told them that they could hire us to create their site!
I (Scott) didn’t really believe in myself at first, and I didn’t think that I could make money designing a website. Then I thought “what the heck, I’ll give it a try.” So we asked the clients what they wanted the website to look like and asked them to show us other websites they liked. Based on this info, we built the pages and added pictures, links and text. Our mom is in marketing, so she provided the text portion for us to include. We had multiple meetings with the client along the way to make sure we were doing what they wanted.
They liked it so much that they even paid us way more than we expected! Also, every time they need a change or update, they are going to pay us to help. The website is www.wrightstownusedauto.com. You can see our company name “Rossie & Scottie’s Website Development Company” at the bottom of the home page.
We can’t wait to take the 3D Game Design class and go back to iD next summer!
