“Where do you find your summer staff?”
We recruit industry professionals, upper-level college undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates with degrees in Film, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Education, Media Arts, and other related fields. Our goal is to ensure that every location is comprised of experienced, returning camp counselors along with new individuals who bring a fresh perspective to camp. We interview thousands of candidates to fill available summer camp jobs, and choose only those applicants who meet our strict criteria. We attribute the success of iD Tech Camps directly to our careful staff selection process and comprehensive training.
“Where do you recruit your staff?”
Our adult-only camp counselors are recruited from the same top colleges and universities where we hold camp. Think Stanford, UCLA, Emory, Northwestern and Vassar to name a few.
“Why don’t you allow Counselors in Training?”
Distinguishing ourselves from most summer camps, we’ve respectfully created a “No CIT” policy. This guarantees that each student is instructed and supervised by paid adult staff members age 18 and older, not teenagers of camp age. CITs, we feel, can be an asset to some camps, but not iD Tech Camps. Read more about how we teach.
“In the age of the internet, do you still train your staff in person?”
At iD, the answer is yes! We train our staff well before the start of camp (in person) and then again at our on-site orientation (in person). There is no substitute for seeing our staff in action. We actively promote the best staff, so most camps are staffed with returning employees, which is another big point of distinction.

Here’s the bottom line: We visit our camps personally, so we know that the work is extremely demanding. We pay our summer camp staff considerably more than any competitor we know. We provide an amazing work environment that includes high expectations, evaluations, detailed curriculum, teaching tools, clear processes, and endless summer fun. We train our staff both in person and via the web, and evaluate them consistently. When camp starts, they are motivated by their high compensation, thorough training, and having an average of just 6 students in their group. We should also point out that they are pleased to be working for such a professional organization. They want to work for the best.

We often smile when parents ask us, “So what do you do in the off-season?” Truly, there is no off-season for the year-round staff at iD Tech Camps. Our Corporate Staff keeps the gears in motion by working year-round out of our Campbell, CA headquarters, smack dab in the middle of the Silicon Valley. We coordinate and implement the most amazing technology experience in the country. Meet our team!
Regional Managers – Setting the Tone from the Top Down
No other computer camp in the nation has the management staff that we have at iD Tech Camps. We have 12 year-round Regional Managers dedicated to searching the country for top-notch Camp Directors and Camp Instructors who possess a selective range of qualifications and talents. All of our Regional Managers were, at one time, summer Camp Directors for iD Tech Camps. Our Regional Managers have worked their way up the ranks and know what it takes to run the best summer computer camps in the nation. Each Regional Manager actively manages a handful of locations. They hire sharp, well-educated, enthusiastic summer staff who stem mostly from the universities where we hold our camps - Stanford, Princeton, UCLA, etc.
